Today, I will write on how to enhance your rapping skills so
as to sound professionally. We all know that Hip Hop is growing in India, and
rap which is one of its components is very popular among the youth of India. This
new concept or culture has given a platform for many artists who had definitely
created an impact in the music industry.
However, it’s not an easy task to simply rap and become famous.
In order to sustain in this music industry, one has to develop skills which
will make him a real artist. People who are looking rapping as their profession
in real manner then they should develop skills. If you have skills, it doesn’t
matter whatever the situation is, you will always perform it.
First and foremost, thing that a rapper or a person who
wants to rap should have is music sense. Fortunately, we human beings have a built-in
music sense, the only thing which one has to do is just explore this inner
capability of humans. One should develop the sense of melody, beats,
instruments, bass, drums, etc. These music ingredients are what make us feel
good when combined together in the form of music.
Secondly, after having a basic music sense, one should now go
one step ahead to understand rap music. Rap music genre is totally different
from others. Most of the music genres are meant to be relaxing and calm however
rap music is opposite to it. This music is meant to be aggressive and is usually
used for motivation and reality. Here lyrics and beats play a major role in
making a good song. But one thing which will make you different and unique is
the rap flow skills. The way you rap on the beat and the way your voice modulates
on the beat are the key features in developing a skill.
As mentioned, rap music plays vital role in motivation,
therefore your voice and flow should match the beat so that one can feel the
music. You can develop a mature voice
through practice and rap flow through understanding. You should know how to
pick and drop lines, words and rhyming. After a little effort, it will come to you
naturally.
Thirdly, if you have developed a music and rap sense then
without expressing your feelings, it is just a waste if you want to be an
artist. One of the key skills one should have is the confidence. Due to lack in
confidence, one is not able to deliver his skills at a good level and this is
the major issue we Indians face. To be an artist, one should know the demand
and how to attract the audience. This can be achieved only if one has the
confidence and the skill to understand the situation. So don’t confine yourself
to your bedroom in front of your system, just try to perform and participate in
a jamming session with others. Make some similar minded friends, try to perform
on small events, it will gradually increase your level. At the start you will
have low confidence but after gaining experiences and your desire to be an artist
will certainly make you a confident artist.
Fourthly, the only weapon to polish your skills and
confidence is practice. One should do practice of rapping on the beat every
day. Try to pick different tempo beats, different types of beats and just spit your verses on it. It will develop you as an overall artist and not stick to
one level of rapping style. It will enhance your music sense and will develop
your voice as well. So just develop a routine to practice rapping every day.
Alright, after following the above points, now to create your
identity as an artist, one should start performing and collaborating with
different people. You will gain skills from others and you will teach your skills
to others. This bonding will give you more confidence and will give you exposure
to understand music more. Just increase you level gradually by performing in front
of others to working with different people in the studio.
